Has anyone ideas for the colour scheme for a pearls and lace theme wedding. One of the colours has to be ivory (ivory pearls and lace) but I am not sure what to combine it with. Ideas on other aspects to tie in the theme would be much appreciated, I am so stuck! I am wanting my wedding to be elegant yet modern. Thankyou so much if you can help!
The wedding will be in march (uk). Any ideas for flowers too. My partner will not have pink or anything resembling pink, I was thinking blue maybe?? with accents of.?

Well, they had a wedding featured on the TV show "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?" that incorporated the pearls & lace that had pale pink, hot pink, ivory, and peach. It was beautiful! But if the man won’t do pink, that won’t work!

The pale blue could work, but I would definitely choose a darker blue to accent it too. Otherwise, I am afraid it will look like a baby boy shower!

What about ivory, champagne, gold, & maybe orange or coral? Those are great together! And the orange is very modern and popular right now! Do mirror tiles on some of the tables, with strands of pearls everywhere, then place gold candle holders of different sizes and orange rose petals. For another look, do clear stanga (or eiffel tower) vases with a flower arranement on top with orange, ivory, and yellow flowers. Have the pearls hanging down from it. Sit it on a puddle of lace fabric.

Hope these ideas help!

I want a colorful wedding with a unique theme. How does a masquerade sound as a wedding theme? All the quest will wear mask and beads.

and if the theme isn’t bad where could we have the wedding. I mean, i don’t think a church will appropriate the theme and all.

I think a masquerade would be cute, but you would definitely have to be the one providing the masks if you want guests to wear them.

However, on the practical side of things. I can’t think of anyone who would want to wear a mask during a ceremony – they block your vision and for those who cry, a mask would only get in the way. I think it would also be strange if the guests of honor (that would be you and your groom) were not also masked.

Perhaps if you want bright colors try a Mardi Gras/ Carnival (as in Venice) theme. Masks can still be worn by those who want to, but not required.

Location-wise, I would go for an garden-type spot. Local conservatories/tea houses/parks normally will help yo to arrange weddings at their spot. If you plan it for a time when many flowers are blooming, then you get the added bonus of all that natural color.

My fiancé and I are going to Hawaii for are wedding ceremony. There will be 8 guest. We want to have are reception in Michigan. Im in love with elegance with a touch of Hawaii (without being cheesy) to give our guest a filling of actually being there.

White or pastel table linens, simple flower arrangements, because tropical flowers are not cheap.
You can buy bags of shells online…just Google "wedding shells" and you’ll be surprised how many stores there are. Good for table decor.
A simple cake with tropical flowers, and "luau-ish" food and you’re all set.
The leis are a nice idea too. You can do Hawaiian without doing cheesy Hawaiian.

My fiance and I are getting married in June 2009. We’ve been struggling with what we wanted to do with our wedding reception and dance, when today the idea hit us to theme it like a carnival.

We already rented a park to have the ceremony at and plan on having the reception there as well. We were thinking of setting up a midway, with some inflatable rides, games (plinko, skeeball, the rubber duckey game, etc), and having all sorts of carnival food (hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, etc.).

Our families know we aren’t so traditional, so they wouldn’t be shocked by this. What would you think of this kind of reception? Has anybody ever done a carnival themed wedding reception?
Good point regarding the extra guests. We were actually thinking of issuing our guests the same kind of wrist bands you’d get at a real carnival. Would that be over the top?

The park really only has one entrance, so controlling outside guests would probably be somewhat mangeable, but a very good point.

It sounds like it would be fun. One little thing though…… if you’re having this in a public park is there any way to keep "extra" guests from joining in? Some people will see the games, inflatable rides etc…. and think "Oh, boy!!! Free fun and food!" Too many ‘extra’ guests can be expensive and your food could run out before your true guest get served. It sounds fun though.

I am having a green/brown/white wedding theme (Calla Lilies for flowers), but I want it to look more "naturey" but with those colours. Definitely need brown ideas (lacking on those), would pine cones in an August wedding look tacky? Help please!

My friend gave out little plants in hydroponic jelly as wedding favours. It also provides great decoration for the dining table and your guests get to take the little plants home to nuture and cherish!

I’m getting married in August and still don’t have a theme. It doesn’t have to be different, just special. I have a few ideas but I just can’t seem to get a feel for them.

My old lady is in love with Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and since she was a little girl wanted to do her wedding like that. She got carriage and horses, a white dress like the one the princess was wearing, ect. (the inside of my band even says "Once apon a dream". You could do something like that or a Caribean or Hiwian theme with the flowers and food. I saw a cool weddin here where she wore a little white dress with lei and he wore a hawaiian shirt. LOL you may not wanto to go that far but you get the idea. My wife says if you want to save money use floating candles in bowls for the reception or candles on mirrors with small glass rocks that you can buy anywhere and confetty for the centerpieces. You can also use balloons inside and out to be more inexpensive and laid back. I ain’t no weddin’ expert but I just went through one so I hope this helps.
