Is your wedding/reception themed or are you just sticking with style (casual vs formal) and colors? If so, what’s your theme?
Congratulations!
I had an actual theme: Japan
because my husband and I are moving there for four years (Air Force). plus were really like the culture.
so basically we got a bunch of dark pink cherry blossoms all over the place, pink ribbons, cherry blossom themed invitations and party favors.
If you are having a theme, do it with something both of you have a passion for. Some examples:
- what hobby do you share
- location of the place you met
- theme of your first date (restaurant theme?)
- your honeymoon destination
- favorite food you enjoy
Good luck!

My theme is "two hearts, one love" and we’re using the double or linked hearts in gold.

No…My theme is wedding
I don’t like the idea, however, if that is what you want, go for it!

No. No theme. Just wedding colors and decorations as appropriate.

We’re having a Hawaiian themed wedding. Casual ceremony on the beach with a Luau reception. Traditional and formal is just not us. We were originally going to have a Japanese theme (since I’m part Japanese and he’s always loved the culture) but then this idea came to mind. Hawaii is very special to us and the culture has always played a roll in our lives so it fits us perfectly (neither of us are Hawaiian).

Having a theme is an aid to planning any party or wedding. By picking an element of:
style: casual, formal, country, minimal, elegant etc…
color: colors of your flowers or bridesmaid dresses
object/thing : pear, wine, travel, hearts,
feel: holiday, asian, sexy, country(redneck), etc…
you are able to make it all flow together and narrow down your ideas. Of course you don’t HAVE to have a theme it is just a place to jump off from.
best wishes………………

Im doing a spilt theme, its a little "midsummers night dream" with a little cinderella style, its just mostly along the lines of mystical fairytale…..guess thats a good way to put it. Im not wearing a white dress, it is light pink and very much a poofy cinderella style ball gown. We are decorating with lots of ivy and petite flowers, moss, candle light, dragonflies, butterflies and fairies.

We are sticking with a picnic-style theme. Of course it’ll be more upscale than an actual picnic though. We are having a quick outside ceremony with an outdoors reception….we’re doing gourmet sandwiches and salads for food, stringing up twinkly lights, the tables are built into the ramada we are using so there are picnic-style tables. Everything will be very simple and nice…we’re so excited!
Themes are only tacky if you don’t go about them tastefully. Good luck!

We are having the reception in a marquee. Formal, ultra elegant, lots of fairy lights and candles, mainly silver decorations (chair sashes, table runners, ceiling ribbons) with touches of brown.
