Beach theme wedding not on a beach? Need help.?

Do you think it is ok to have a beach theme wedding not on a beach? Like beach decorations and all but not on a beach…

My husband and I had a destination wedding in Jamaica. We had a tropical-beach themed reception at home. We live in Michigan – nowhere near a tropical beach! But I was happy to bring a little bit of our wedding home in that way.

Even if you’re not getting married anywhere near a beach, I think a beach themed wedding reception is lovely.

P.S. It’ll be our 5 year anniversary this summer, and I want to have a tropical themed BBQ at our home to celebrate with some of our closest family and friends. So you see, your wedding theme can live with you throughout your marriage!

A suggestion: Ask your DJ to play some some soft reggae during cocktail hour and/or dinner to help set the mood!

Good Luck, Congratulations, and Have Fun! :~)

I think it’s ok! It would be nice to have it on a beach but it might be a little much especially if ur planning on havin a lot of beach themed items. I think it’s a nice idea and a lot of people do this. :)

depends. How close to the beach is it? I’m doing a beach theme and the reception is at a country club but the ceremony is on the beach. Just remember…don’t over do the theme.

Yes, that’s fine. I don’t see why people think you can’t have a beach themed wedding if you’re not at a beach. I think it’ll be pretty. Is it going to be in the summer? If so, that’s definitely okay! Even if it isn’t.. it’s okay. It’s whatever y’all want.
That’s like asking if it’s okay to have a Fairytale wedding if you’re not having the wedding in a castle. lol It’ll be okay. =) I’m sure it’ll be really pretty.

I think it is fine that is why they offer themes for weddings. Unfortunately there are some of us who do not live near a beach or can afford after the cost of the wedding to fly to a beach. I say just use the materials out there tikki bars, tikki torches, leis for the guests, seashells for favors or for placesettings, food ideas gallore. I say just not worry about the no beach and and create your own beach it can be done and done to fit your budget. If you need ideas my email address is [email protected] I am doing my own wedding that is set in august of 2009 and I am having a blast doing it myself I would love to share ideas or just help out.

I believe this article http://www.wedding-trends.info/seaside-wedding-reception-ideas.php answers your question clearly. “No matter how close or far you may be from the sea or the beach; you can still incorporate the theme into your wedding…”. You can find out how to make your party just like at a beach by reading the whole article!
