Do you think it is ok to have a beach theme wedding not on a beach? Like beach decorations and all but not on a beach…

My husband and I had a destination wedding in Jamaica. We had a tropical-beach themed reception at home. We live in Michigan – nowhere near a tropical beach! But I was happy to bring a little bit of our wedding home in that way.

Even if you’re not getting married anywhere near a beach, I think a beach themed wedding reception is lovely.

P.S. It’ll be our 5 year anniversary this summer, and I want to have a tropical themed BBQ at our home to celebrate with some of our closest family and friends. So you see, your wedding theme can live with you throughout your marriage!

A suggestion: Ask your DJ to play some some soft reggae during cocktail hour and/or dinner to help set the mood!

Good Luck, Congratulations, and Have Fun! :~)

Having a wedding in Jamaica, and want to go with the beach wedding theme.

Got my dress already. But plan to make the invitations, order of service etc myself. Also thinking about wedding favours as parasols and fans for the ladies… not sure about the gents?!

Thinking of the colour scheme of the wedding to be white, silver and duck egg blue…?! Party wearing linen, silk, summery clothes…

We are having a BBQ Carnival Party as the reception on the beach.. anything i can add to make it special..?? Thinking of sparklers towards the end of the night… anything else to make it different/special?

We have 43 guest attending and 15children…

Just running my ideas by you… Any other ideas of how i can display the wedding as a beach theme, and not too traditional…

Cheers…
Any ideas for the 3hour reception?? Only got a mento band playing for 1hr.. should i extend it, or would people just mingle with CD music in the background???

First off, I’m SO jealous. It sounds beautiful… and fun!

I love the Carnival Party idea. Are you going to have lots of candy and sweets? Those giant pinwheel lollipops would be so cute stuck in centerpieces or vases. Are you having the traditional dances? Maybe have everyone light up those sparklers and surround the dance floor while you and the groom slow dance. Might make for a really pretty photo moment.
If you’re only going to have live music for part of the reception I’d have it in the last part. Light music while everyone mingles and has some cocktails and gets ready for the dinner… then fun live music while you’re all in the festive party mood.
Congrats and have fun!

centerpieces is what I really need. Our budget is 3000.And would BBQ be a good meal to serve. We’re having the wedding at a park. How can decorate the tables? Thanks for all answers.

Tropical/beach – Sea shells, polished stones, fish tanks
You could have a Hawaiian wedding at the beach, followed by the traditional luau for the reception. Or as you have the wedding in a beautiful park you could create decorations with an old-fashioned picnic reception.
The good thing about a Hawaiian or beach-theme wedding is that decorations are very easy to find. You can make your own paper leis, and miniature palm trees are an affordable addition to flowers. Be sure to check the local thrift stores for anything tropical – dishware, shirts, dresses, etc. Just make sure all the decorations, as well as the attire, remind you of the beach. And you can cut down on the cost of champagne and serve Mai Tai’s or other tropical drinks.

Edible decorations, like shells and sea life, will carry the beach theme through on the wedding cake. Get ideas for a beach-themed wedding cake from a wedding planner in this free wedding video.

I am having a beach theme wedding in St. Louis. MO since we can’t have a real beach wedding with all of our family there. I bought a dress that I think is more formal than I had originally wanted, but its THE dress! It has alot of bead work on the top but is still real flowy, the style is a mori lee 2105. I found dresses for my girls before I found my dress and they are sun dresses that are white with blue and green shades of floweres that has a criss cross top with blue ribbon accent. Will they go ok together? the white in their dress is not as white as the white in my dress. I have thought about the guys just wearing a nice dress shirt and khaki’s and the groom wear a coat over his. and the ceremony is at a place called the Piper Palm House, so its still exotic and beautiful. I’m not a fancy person, I am not a dress person, I am a casual down to earth person. what should I do about the dresses???? honestly is what I need now! Thank you

i think it will look beautiful…you can always change into a less formal dress for the reception
