This party will be a backyard bash for a sendoff for our Alaskan honeymoon in Virigina. I’m already serving Salmon for dinner and maybe some crab, and chocolate "moose" for dessert (food seems to be my speciality here). We will have a fire pit out back. Need ideas for cake, party favors, decorations, or some other items to make it more of an Alaska send off. Maybe something to do with puddle jumpers. Any one know of widely available Alaskan beer?
What in the heck are puddle jumpers? And we don’t have igloos all over the place, seriously. Baked Alaska would be a great desert, better than moose actually. The fire pit is awesome, and will do good. Beer, I always see my parents go for Alaskan Amber… don’t know if it is good or not. If you have a cake, try having pinecone decorations on it or maybe like fly fishing gear wrapped around it (just don’t do hooks lol) something outdoorsy looking. There was a wedding here where the couple got married on a muskocks farm, and a lot just out in the mountains. The best decoration would be some kind of fishnet little goody bags, tied together with fishing string and inside of it put those sweedish fish in it. Leave those on everyones table. There is soooo much you could do, for sure, look up alaska bride on google and I am sure you will find stories and ideas that will help you plan!
If you were getting married in september what colors would you choose? I really don’t want a fall theme is argument at the moment. (Orange is one of my least fav colors) If anyone can suggest ideas as to what they would do that may guide me in a different direction than a pumpkin leafy theme that would be soo very helpful. Thanks so much in advance!!
I want to get married in September its so beautiful. Champagne or Clover Green are two perfect colors! Pick one of the other or pair them together. For flowers pick white roses or white lillies and make the sash around them one of the two above colors. For centerpieces, (champagne color theme) try peaches in a wooden basket or (clover green color theme) pears or green apples in a wooden basket. You can also get a bowl and fill half with water and floating flower candles on top. It will accent your wedding for sure. The idea is simple, romantic, and will make your guests feel in between summer and fall. Congratulations!
I am planning a black and white wedding for September of next year. I know I want my bridesmaids wearing black dresses and am thinking about using little bits of red and/or silver for accents. Any ideas for flowers, groomsmen’s tuxes, or reception decor?
If you are doing such a classic color scheme (white and black). Add an equally dramatic and elegant color. I’d do black bridesmaid’s dresses. For the bridesmaid’s bouquets, I’d have big all-white rose bouquets. For your bouquet, have a large all-crimson red rose bouquet. I think the contrasts in colors will be amazing. The red against your dress and the white against the black. It will be so bold and really gorgeous, but in a good way.
For the guys, have them wear classic black tuxes or suits. Have black vests and Crimson red ties. Each groomsmen gets a single white rose for their tux. The groom gets a red Crimson one.
Hi everyone. So I am getting married in June and even though I live in California with my fiance we are going to travel all the way to Germany for this, because that’s where most of my family is. His family is quite small, so it was the better choice.
Anyway, how can I make a theme out of our two heritages? America and Germany. I’m having trouble getting inspired! How could I incorporate this into the decorations, the invitations, and so on and so forth?
Does anyone have ideas?
Thanks so much
By the way, I know the German and American traditions, so I think I’m good on that. I can’t think any further though …
That is really cool! Personally, I would keep it more with the German decorations. The Americans who attend will think it is really cool, and I think it will mean more to you in the end. Or you could mix the colors by having red, white, blue, and gold, red and black. Have the different tables covered in the traditional American flag, as well as the German flag. Man this is a tough one! My parents were married in Germany and they had a castle theme.
Do you think it is ok to have a beach theme wedding not on a beach? Like beach decorations and all but not on a beach…
My husband and I had a destination wedding in Jamaica. We had a tropical-beach themed reception at home. We live in Michigan – nowhere near a tropical beach! But I was happy to bring a little bit of our wedding home in that way.
Even if you’re not getting married anywhere near a beach, I think a beach themed wedding reception is lovely.
P.S. It’ll be our 5 year anniversary this summer, and I want to have a tropical themed BBQ at our home to celebrate with some of our closest family and friends. So you see, your wedding theme can live with you throughout your marriage!
A suggestion: Ask your DJ to play some some soft reggae during cocktail hour and/or dinner to help set the mood!
Good Luck, Congratulations, and Have Fun! :~)
I am getting married soon and we are planning on doing a paris/french theme. Any ideas on what food we can serve for the reception? Not so worried about easy to make as I am about the cost, we will be serving a lot of people so we need something that is gonna be cost effective. Thanks.

We are having a very simple western church wedding. I am wanting any and all ideas for vows in a western theme. Websites or any vows any one has written with a western them to them is welcome. Thanks in advance.
You’re having a western themed wedding?!? I’m excited because I did too! When we had ours, we just did the traditional vows the preacher does. Personally, I thought talking in southern drawls and yelling "Yee-Haw!" after the kiss was a bit too western but that’s all up to you. I would just write what you feel. Even though it may not be totally western, it’s exactly what your groom wants to hear. If you need any ideas/planning tips, I’d be so happy to help you out, btw. I’m learning to become a wedding planner, weddings make me so happy and I think it’s sad you only get one. LOL. Good luck to both of you!!

What ideas do you have for a Southern style wedding in September? My braidsmaid dresses and linens are the color "coral". Do you have tips? Thanks!
There are tons of food ocmbinations available for you. I just depends on how Southern you want to be. You can go traditional Southern or you can do Southern with a twist by presenting Southern favorites as finger foods if you are doing passed hors douvres (sp?)
For example:
Mac-n-cheese or Mac-n-cheese puff pastries
Crabcakes or mini crabcakes
Cornbread, hushpuppies or little cornbread cakes
Fried green tomatoes are pretty
Sweet potatoes, whipped sweet potatoes, sweet potato quiches
Greens or green beans
Fried corn
Black-eyed peas
Smothered chicken with rice and gravy
Country fried steak
Ok, I’m getting hungry. Hope this helps. Congratulations!
